Browns Acquired Cam Robinson to Add Depth Up Front

The Browns made a move to strengthen their offensive line as Dillon Gabriel prepared for his first career start at quarterback. The urgent need for reinforcement became apparent after offensive tackle Dawand Jones suffered a season-ending injury in Week 3. Last week, Jones underwent surgery to repair a torn LCL and a hamstring avulsion, leaving a significant gap in the Browns’ protection.

In response, the Cleveland Browns traded for Houston Texans offensive tackle Cam Robinson, offering a swap of late-round picks in the 2027 NFL Draft. “He’s a guy that we’re excited to bring in here. We’ve had injuries at the position... having guys that have started multiple games and played well is obviously an important part for us,” Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said on Monday. His comments underscore the urgency to stabilize an offensive line that has struggled with consistency due to injuries.

This season, Cleveland has started four different offensive line combinations across four games, a direct consequence of the repeated injuries at the offensive tackle positions. Cam Robinson, who signed a one-year contract with the Texans as a free agent in March, brings veteran experience and depth to the Browns’ lineup. Although he was inactive during Houston’s 26–0 win over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, Robinson has appeared in three games this season, starting once.

By acquiring Robinson, the Browns aim to provide Dillon Gabriel with better pass protection and bolster the offensive front at a critical juncture in their season. The hope is that, at the very least, Robinson provides much-needed depth.
