Jags Trade RB Tank Bigsby to Eagles
Just as I penned an article highlighting the Philadelphia Eagles’ increasing wealth, they’ve gone ahead and added another crucial piece to their championship roster. The Eagles are set to acquire Jaguars running back Tank Bigsby in a trade that will send Philadelphia’s 2026 fifth- and sixth-round draft picks to Jacksonville. At 24, Bigsby demonstrated his versatility last season by rushing for 766 yards and scoring seven touchdowns, while also making a significant mark as a kick returner, averaging an impressive 32.5 yards per return. Although his performance against the Panthers was modest—carrying the ball five times for 12 yards—Bigsby’s role grew increasingly uncertain after the Jaguars strengthened their backfield during the April draft. They picked Bhayshul Tuten from Virginia Tech in the third round and LeQuint Allen Jr. from Syracuse in the seventh, who together combined for only four carries in the recent game against Carolina.
For the Eagles, Bigsby is a valuable addition primarily as a kick return specialist, complementing an already robust running back group. Philadelphia’s backfield is anchored by Saquon Barkley, a proven playmaker, and includes AJ Dillon alongside rising second-year talent Will Shipley. Bigsby’s speed and return skills are expected to boost the special teams unit while providing additional depth to the rushing attack.
A noteworthy aspect of the trade centers on the specific draft picks involved. According to ESPN’s Michael DiRocco, the fifth-round pick heading to Jacksonville was originally acquired from the 49ers in the Bryce Huff trade. This pick could be upgraded to a fourth-rounder if Huff manages to record eight sacks during the 2025 season. If that condition is met, the Eagles will owe Jacksonville the improved fourth-round selection instead of the initially agreed fifth-round pick, adding a conditional clause that could increase the deal’s value for the Jaguars based on Huff’s performance.
