Bills Add Receiver Depth in 25-Year-Old Moore
The Buffalo Bills have been actively seeking to strengthen their receiving corps since the departure of Stefon Diggs, and this week, they took a significant step in that direction. The team signed free agent wide receiver Elijah Moore to a one-year contract on Monday, adding fresh talent to their offensive core.
Elijah Moore, a dynamic wide receiver from Ole Miss, was originally selected in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the New York Jets. After spending two seasons with the Jets, Moore requested a trade that resulted in his move to the Cleveland Browns—along with a third-round pick—in exchange for a second-round pick. Despite facing instability at the quarterback position during his time in Cleveland, Moore still managed to achieve a single-season career high with 61 receptions for 538 yards and one touchdown.
Bills general manager Brandon Beane shared on the show One Bills Live that Moore and his wife recently visited the team’s facilities. The visit went smoothly, and negotiations advanced quickly, culminating in the signing.
What Moore brings to Buffalo’s receiving corps, above all, is his exceptional speed. Clocking in with a blazing 4.35-second 40-yard dash, the 5-foot-10, 180-pound receiver excels at creating separation from defenders and consistently gaining extra yards after the catch. Additionally, Moore’s youth works in the Bills’ favor—he turned 25 years old this past March—bringing both experience and potential to a team eager to enhance its aerial attack.
