Diontae Johnson Takes Another Trip to the AFC North

Diontae Johnson had an interesting 2024 season by many metrics. From multiple teams to varying levels of success, his season was largely a mixed bag. This time around, Johnson gets a fresh start with a team that needed depth at the receiver position. Initially selected by the Steelers in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Johnson spent his first five seasons in Pittsburgh. Following his rookie year, he earned a spot on the NFL All-Pro Second Team as a punt return specialist.

In March 2024, Johnson was traded to the Panthers, where he appeared in seven games before being dealt again to the Ravens. While with Baltimore, he played in four games, starting one. The Ravens waived Johnson in December 2024, after which the Texans claimed him off waivers. In Houston, he participated in a single game, recording two receptions for 12 yards. During his tenure with the Steelers, Johnson took part in 77 games, starting 67 of them, and amassed 391 catches for 4,363 yards and 25 touchdowns. Additionally, he contributed 19 rushes for 134 yards on the ground.

This time around, Johnson will be playing for his third team in the AFC North, so it’s fair to expect that he has a keen understanding of the rivalry that takes place within the division. It’s going to be exciting to see him make plays again—this time without being restricted as he was in Baltimore.
