Eagles Interested in Dealing Goedert

The Eagles have been actively exploring trade options throughout this offseason, with tight end Dallas Goedert positioned as the focal point of discussions. Recent developments suggest that there is now tangible movement in these negotiations. At 30 years old, Goedert remains a fan favorite in Philadelphia, known for his reliable performance and professionalism. However, with a looming cap charge exceeding $11 million in 2025, it makes sense why Philly would look to shed some cap space.

From the franchise’s perspective, the primary goal is to manage salary cap space more efficiently. Initially, it was understood that Eagles executive Howie Roseman aimed to trade Goedert before the draft in exchange for a valuable 2025 draft pick. Yet, this strategy has not generated significant enthusiasm from potential trade partners. The team appears intent on moving on from the tight end position, despite Goedert’s impressive track record.

Last season, Goedert was limited to just 10 games, during which he recorded 42 receptions for 496 yards and two touchdowns. While these numbers are solid, they may not justify his relatively high salary cap hit in the eyes of the Eagles' front office. Nevertheless, he remains a high-caliber player whose production and skill set are well respected across the league.

Among the rumored potential destinations, the New York Giants have emerged as a possible suitor. However, any trade involving an NFC East rival is complicated—both from a competitive standpoint and in terms of organizational willingness. It remains to be seen whether the Eagles are prepared to facilitate a deal with a division opponent or if other teams will show greater interest as talks progress. In any case, if any movement is to be made in the near future, it will surely develop this week around the NFL Draft.
