Texans Extend Pitre to a Three-Year Deal
The Texans have secured another key member of their secondary with a significant contract extension. Safety Jalen Pitre has agreed to a three-year deal worth $39 million, which includes over $29 million in guaranteed money. Earlier this offseason, the Texans locked down cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. with a similar commitment. Stingley, who was a first-round pick in 2022, has quickly become a cornerstone of the defense alongside Pitre, who was selected in the second round the same year. Together, they represent a young, talented duo that the Texans are building around to fortify their secondary for years to come.
Since entering the league, Pitre has shown remarkable durability and consistency, starting all 46 regular season and playoff games he’s played—an impressive feat for a young defensive back. Last season, he started 12 games before a torn pectoral injury unfortunately sidelined him for the remainder of the year, but his performance prior to the injury highlighted his impact on the field.
Over his career so far with the Texans, Pitre has amassed an impressive stat line: 296 tackles, six interceptions, 21 passes defensed, one sack, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries. These numbers reflect his versatility and playmaking ability, making him an integral part of the Texans’ defense moving forward.
