Should the Cowboys Move Off of Trevon Diggs?

The Dallas Cowboys find themselves in a tight financial position, as they may have to consider the possibility of trading their star cornerback, Trevon Diggs, who is currently rehabilitating from an ACL injury. This decision looms large over the organization, particularly as they focus on finalizing a substantial long-term contract for superstar Micah Parsons following the recent securing of deals for quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb.

Trevon Diggs is not just a key player; he is a cornerstone of the Cowboys' defense, with four years remaining on a lucrative five-year contract worth $97 million. Last season, despite his injury struggles, he managed to compile 42 tackles and two interceptions over just 11 games, showcasing his impact on the field. While trading Diggs could yield significant financial relief, enabling the team to allocate resources elsewhere, doing so would undeniably create a void in the Cowboys' secondary.

The challenge they face is balancing these financial constraints with the necessity of maintaining a strong defense. It would be a significant shift for Dallas to trade away Diggs, but I don’t think it’s out of the question. They could receive solid draft capital in return, as well as free up financial space to potentially fill the void left by Diggs' departure at a discounted price. At any rate, it remains to be seen how the Cowboys will navigate this pivotal offseason. As the draft approaches swiftly, answers will come accordingly, and I’m sure a resolution to this situation will arise in the days to come.
