Trevor Lawrence Puts Nail in the Coffin of Trade Rumors

With trade rumors swirling around Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence, the young star took a decisive stance to put an end to the speculation.

In a candid interview with Kay Adams on Monday, Lawrence emphatically denied any intention of waiving his no-trade clause to join the Steelers—a statement further solidified by a Pro Football Talk report confirming that Pittsburgh never even inquired about his availability.

For Lawrence, his commitment to the Jaguars stems from the stability he sees within the organization, particularly under head coach Doug Pederson.

“I like everything we have in place so far—Coach Pederson and the staff he’s assembled,” Lawrence stated with confidence. “So, I’m really excited and optimistic about the future.”

Under Pederson’s leadership, Jacksonville’s offense has continued to evolve, but Lawrence remains focused on taking the next step. Meanwhile, in Tampa Bay, Liam Coen’s offense ranked No. 3 in total yards and No. 4 in points scored, with the Buccaneers excelling in the run game, averaging 5.3 yards per carry. Baker Mayfield also experienced a career resurgence, throwing for 4,500 yards with 28 touchdowns and 10 interceptions—highlighting both the high-risk, high-reward nature of Coen’s offense.

What particularly stands out to Lawrence is the energy and passion Pederson brings to the team. The quarterback described his head coach’s enthusiasm as a driving force behind the team's optimism, noting how it has already begun to shape the culture within the locker room.

“His energy has really stood out in our conversations so far,” Lawrence remarked. “I can tell he’s passionate about what he does, and that’s something that I’m excited to be a part of.”

With a strong foundation in place, Lawrence is looking ahead to the upcoming season with a renewed sense of purpose and determination, eager to lead Jacksonville to new heights.
