“DTR” Set to Start the Rest of the Way for Browns at Quarterback

The Browns' quarterback situation has long been a dilemma, overshadowing much of the team’s history. This season is no exception, as the team prepares to start its third quarterback, Dorian Thompson-Robinson. Head coach Kevin Stefanski made the decision to implement this change in response to the declining performances of backup Jameis Winston. This move effectively concludes Winston's seven-game tenure as Cleveland’s starter, stepping in after Deshaun Watson suffered a season-ending Achilles injury.

During his time as QB1, Winston accumulated 2,121 passing yards and threw for 13 touchdowns. However, his season has been marred by inconsistency, as he also recorded 12 interceptions—an alarming statistic that includes a staggering eight interceptions over the past three games. These turnovers were particularly costly; all three of those games ended in losses for Cleveland and were heavily affected by the number of turnovers.

Dorian Thompson-Robinson enters this role with a mixed but promising background. As a rookie last season, he started three games, and although his statistics show he completed 15 of 34 passes with three interceptions during four appearances, the experience he gained may serve him well as he takes the helm. The burden of being the Browns' starting QB now falls on DTR’s shoulders, with fans hopeful to get a look at the former draft pick. It should be a telling few games to estimate just how far he has come in his career thus far.
