Three Keys to a Jets Victory on Sunday Night

This Sunday night's game between the Jets and Steelers is one of the most anticipated matchups of the season for several reasons. The biggest storyline is the Jets' acquisition of wide receiver Davante Adams, who will make his season debut in a primetime atmosphere in Pittsburgh. With all the focus on Adams, it’s easy to forget the importance of actually winning the game. Here are my three keys to a Jets victory in what’s sure to be a competitive matchup against Mike Tomlin’s Steelers.

1. Get the Receivers Involved EarlyIt might seem obvious, but getting the ball to Davante Adams early is crucial. Alongside Garrett Wilson, the Jets now have one of the best wide receiver duos in the league. The Steelers' defense is tough, already forcing seven turnovers this year, and they do an excellent job of preventing deep plays. The Jets need to work the quick passing game to eventually open up opportunities downfield. With Rodgers’ arsenal of weapons, it’s time to put the pieces together.

2. Get After Russell WilsonThis week marks Russell Wilson’s first start of the season, and the Jets need to bring constant pressure to throw him off rhythm. Wilson has been recovering from an injury and doesn’t seem as mobile in practice. Keeping Wilson contained will be essential, especially since Justin Fields had led the Steelers to a 4-2 record before this change. Tomlin has turned to Wilson to boost the passing game, but the Jets must disrupt his return.

3. Stop the RunPittsburgh’s success has heavily relied on their run game, with over 100 yards on the ground in each of their wins. Najee Harris is coming off a 100-yard game last week, so the Jets' defense needs to focus on limiting him. If they can contain the Steelers’ run game, it will complement their pass rush and put them in a strong position to secure the win in Pittsburgh.
