Jets Reunite Davante Adams and Aaron Rodgers in Blockbuster Trade
New York is buzzing this week, not only with the Yankees heading to the World Series but also with the shocking news from the Jets. The Jets have traded for wide receiver Davante Adams from the Raiders, giving up a conditional 2025 third-round pick in return. Adams, a six-time Pro Bowler and three-time first-team All-Pro, has already made an impact this season, despite a hamstring injury. He’s recorded 18 catches for 208 yards and a touchdown in just three games with Las Vegas and is set to play his first game with New York this week.
Adams and Aaron Rodgers have a history. During their eight seasons together in Green Bay, they forged one of the league’s most impressive partnerships, amassing 669 receptions, 8,121 receiving yards, and 73 touchdowns. In 2020, Adams led the NFL with 18 touchdowns and 98.1 receiving yards per game, helping Rodgers to his MVP season. In 2021, Rodgers earned his second consecutive MVP, while Adams had a career year with 123 receptions and 1,553 receiving yards.
Reflecting on their bond, Rodgers told reporters before the Jets played the Vikings in Week 5, “While I can’t delve too deeply into specifics due to tampering rules, I have a close friendship with him. We spend time together in the offseason, and he’s an exceptional player and person. The rest is out of my control.” Now reunited, Rodgers and Adams join Garrett Wilson, creating one of the most dangerous receiver duos in the league. It will be nearly impossible for defenses to double-team both, making this a nightmare for opposing secondaries. For Jets fans, it’ll be nostalgic to see Rodgers and Adams back on the same team—a reunion many thought was impossible. But here we are, and I expect them to pick up right where they left off this Sunday, firing on all cylinders as if no time has passed.
