Harrison Phillips Signs 2-Year Extension with Vikings

One of the most underrated interior defenders in the NFC, Harrison Phillips, has been rewarded with a well-deserved extension. The Minnesota Vikings have locked up their defensive captain on a two-year deal worth $7.5 million per year, with $13.09 million guaranteed. Phillips had a standout performance in the Vikings' Week 1 win over the Giants, recording a sack and five tackles. Alongside his fellow pass rushers, he made life difficult for Daniel Jones and the Giants' offense, which struggled to find any rhythm.

Despite not having a Pro Bowl appearance to his name, Phillips has been a model of consistency, both with the Vikings and during his time with the Buffalo Bills. Over the past few seasons, he has elevated his game, earning this well-deserved payday. Last year, Phillips posted career highs with 92 tackles and six quarterback hits. Now, under the guidance of defensive coordinator Brian Flores, Phillips is in an even better position to make an impact in both the run and pass games. Flores, known for his defensive acumen, showed his influence in Week 1, with the Vikings defense putting on a dominant display.

At 28 years old, Phillips still has plenty of good football ahead of him. The Vikings will be counting on their defensive leader as they prepare for their next challenge against the San Francisco 49ers and their elite rushing attack.
