Three Keys to Victory for Big Blue on Sunday

After a disappointing season last year, the Giants are looking to start fresh and get their 2024 campaign off to a strong start with a win against the Vikings. While many doubt this year’s Giants, I believe this roster has the talent to be a sleeper team in the NFC. Though they might not be ready for another playoff run like in 2022, this team has the potential to compete week in and week out. Here’s why I think Big Blue will secure a victory on Sunday, especially if they can capitalize on these three keys to victory.

Keys to Victory

1. Get Daniel Jones Moving Early and Often

One of Daniel Jones’ best traits as a quarterback is his ability to run. In 2022, he had his best season as a runner, surpassing 700 yards on the ground. With two new starters on the offensive line, it may take time for them to gel, so getting Jones moving outside the pocket will help him utilize his running ability while also easing pressure on the O-line. Jones is coming off an ACL injury from last year, but he has stated that his knee feels strong post-recovery. If the Giants want to succeed this season, Jones’ ability to run will be a major factor.

2. The Pass Rush Must Get Home

In recent years, the Giants have invested heavily in building an elite defensive line. This offseason, they traded for star pass rusher Brian Burns and gave him a massive $150 million contract. Paired with 2022’s fifth overall pick, Kayvon Thibodeaux, and superstar defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, the Giants have the pieces to create significant pressure up front. While much of the talk has centered around the offense, it’s the defense that could be the game-changer—not just on Sunday, but throughout the season. Expect new defensive coordinator Shane Bowen to unleash this dynamic front and disrupt Sam Darnold’s rhythm from the start.

3. Get the Ball to Malik Nabers

Expectations couldn’t be higher for rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers. Amid all the hype, one thing is clear—Nabers has the talent to live up to it, and he should be the team’s de facto WR1 heading into Week 1. With head coach Brian Daboll calling the plays, I expect him to get the rookie involved early to build his confidence. Nabers has a versatile skill set that can open up countless possibilities for the Giants’ offense. Comparisons to Giants legend Odell Beckham Jr. may set a high bar, but Nabers has already shown in training camp that he’s ready to rise to the occasion.
