Vikings Coordinator Search Continues, Interesting Off-season Ahead
The Vikings have interviewed 4 individuals for their vacant defensive coordinator position and along with that should come some major changes to the roster. So far they have interviewed Ryan Nieslon of the Saints, Sean Desai of the Seahawks, assistant head coach of the Vikings Mike Pettine, and Brian Flores of the Pittsburgh Steelers. I think these are very interesting possibilities and am curious in which direction they go.
Brian Flores was a really good defensive coordinator for the Patriots and a good coach in Miami as well. The Vikings interviewed Sean Desai last year and he has really impressed this past year with the development of rookie cornerback Tariq Woolen in Seattle.
What roster changes will be coming? With the Vikings being over the cap next year and some aging veterans, this team could look significantly different as we approach this off-season. It is hard to see players Eric Kendricks, Jordan Hicks, Dalvin Cook, and Adam Thielen coming back given their current contract situations. Could players like Harrison Smith and Danielle Hunter be traded? How will these holes be filled?
I don't know how all of this will play out, but rebuilding the roster will be the first big test for Kwesi and Kevin as new management of the Vikings. Let’s hope they get it right.
