Adams Growing Impatient with Raiders' Lack of Success
Since leaving the Packers after the 2021 season, Davante Adams has faced a challenging time with the Raiders. With multiple quarterbacks, including this year’s new addition, Gardner Minshew, it’s understandable why the potential future Hall of Famer is frustrated with his current situation—especially after spending the first eight years of his career with Aaron Rodgers.
Recently, former Eagles wide receiver and speedster DeSean Jackson mentioned that he spoke with Adams and got the impression that his patience is wearing thin. Jackson remarked, “You go from Aaron Rodgers, then you come to the Las Vegas Raiders… and it just didn’t quite work out, so now I just don’t think he’s really that happy there.” This statement is telling and not surprising, given how the past few years have unfolded for Adams.
Since Adams joined the Raiders, the team has compiled a disappointing 14-20 record over two seasons, missing the playoffs both years. Despite the team’s struggles, Adams has continued to prove himself as one of the NFL’s premier wideouts. He’s played in all 34 games, recording over 100 receptions each season, totaling 203 catches. He’s also surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in both seasons, including a standout 2022 campaign with 1,500 yards and 14 touchdowns. At 31, Adams still has plenty of great football left in him, but remaining in Las Vegas could seem like a waste of his talent. Adams appears to be aware of this, and it seems the end of his Raiders tenure might be approaching.
If the Raiders don’t get off to a strong start this season, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the superstar wideout request a trade. Adams and Rodgers have openly discussed the possibility of reuniting, and many have speculated about Adams joining the Jets because of this. Ultimately, we’ll have to wait and see what the future holds for Adams and the Raiders. With the regular season rapidly approaching and Week 1 just a week and a half away, the immediate focus should be on the Chargers and securing a win.
