Vikings Fire Ed Donatell

After just one season with the Vikings, Ed Donatell has been let go of his duties as defensive coordinator. The Vikings ranked 31 in defensive yards allowed and 28th in points allowed. This team was just a mess defensively. It did not seem as if they could ever get into a rhythm. Too many big plays were allowed from this team, and even when they were playing almost prevent defense they were getting cooked.

To be fair to Ed, he wasn't given the best players to work with but he did have some great ones. Hunter seemed misused all year and when you have a player of his caliber dropping into coverage that can't keep happening.

The tipping point for the Ed seemed to be in the second match up with the Lions this year, as they allowed 34 points and KOC talked to him after the game how he would attack his defense.

No major adjustments were made  to the defense throughout the season, and in the wildcard game they let Daniel Jones run and throw around all day.

Ed Donatell just wasn't the right hire and it’s time for an overhaul of personnel and coach on defense to try and improve this Vikings unit.
