Promising WR Addison Arrested on Suspicion of DUI

Promising Vikings second-year Wide Receiver Jordan Addison was arrested on suspicion of DUI last Friday. Addison was found asleep in his car, blocking a lane on I-105 westbound to Sepulveda Boulevard northbound. He was taken into custody that night and released the next morning. The most discouraging aspect of this situation is that it is not Addison's first run-in with the law since he was drafted. Last year, he was clocked going 140 mph on a freeway in Minnesota, a charge that he resolved by paying only $689 in fines.

Addison is an extremely talented player, which makes these incidents even harder to understand. He had a fantastic rookie year, hauling in 70 catches for 911 yards and 10 touchdowns. That said, the NFL has a history of such events, and fortunately, no one was hurt this time. Too often, we see talent wasted over issues like this. It begs the question: how was he not taken care of wherever he was coming from? Situations like this make you question the strength of his inner circle if his people allowed him to drive knowing he was impaired. At the end of the day, he is still a grown man, and one who should know the difference between right and wrong.

The Vikings themselves published a statement saying, “We are aware of Jordan Addison's arrest this past Friday and are currently gathering more information regarding the incident.” This minimal statement leaves much to be answered, and more details are yet to come. I’ll be sure to keep you all updated as soon as we get any further comments.
