Lamb Reportedly Requests Trade if Price Not Met

With multiple wide receivers getting big-time extensions this offseason, many have been left wondering when Cowboys wide receiver Ceedee Lamb will get his big pay. Well, things have seemingly escalated as of late, with numerous reports stating that Lamb will request a trade if he does not get the top-of-the-line contract he is looking for. Lamb is rumored to be seeking upwards of $30 million annually in a new extension, effectively placing him at the top of the market. The Cowboys have a lot of big contract decisions coming up in the very near future, including Lamb and quarterback Dak Prescott. Specifically for Lamb, I believe Dallas should bite the proverbial bullet and get this contract done before tensions continue to escalate.

Elite Talent

Lamb has been a model of consistency since he entered the NFL out of Oklahoma in 2020. He’s surpassed 70 catches, 900 yards, and five touchdowns every year of his career to date. However, these past few seasons, Lamb has taken his game to a whole new level, placing his name among the elite wideouts in the league. This past season was by far his best, with 135 catches, 1,749 yards, and 12 touchdowns. These numbers were good enough to place him in the top two of every major receiving category, and his 135 catches led the league.

Race to the Finish Line

It’s no secret that the Cowboys are in the middle of their championship window, making it all the more important to swiftly eliminate as much drama as possible, especially regarding one of their best players. The Cowboys have to understand that the price is the price; that’s just how it goes. The quicker they move to sign Lamb, the quicker they can plan out a roadmap for this upcoming season and beyond. A potential trade scenario would seriously limit Dallas’s offensive playmaking, as outside of Lamb, they don’t have another potential X-factor playmaker. Furthermore, with Dallas already in a turbulent spot due to recent playoff failures, a trade of a star player could do more damage in the locker room than on the actual football field. One thing is for certain: if Dallas wants to do this right, Ceedee Lamb should get paid and deservingly so.
