Justin Jefferson MVP Candidate?
With 11 games under our belt and the Vikings sitting with a record of 9-2, we could potentially be looking at a division championship this weekend. The Vikings have cemented themselves as a playoff team and a threat to go far in the playoffs. The main reason for that is wide receiver Justin Jefferson. He already has 1,232 yards, 6 total touchdowns, and a 15.2 yards per reception stat. He has been absolutely essential to almost every Vikings win and, when he wasn't effective, we lost. In fact, we only put up a total of 10 points in the two games we lost.
Jefferson has also created some memorable moments like the catch he made against Buffalo to give us a chance, great contested catches against the Patriots, and constantly drawing double teams to open up the field for others. While the MVP is typically a quarterback award, with the way Jefferson has been playing and if the Vikings can continue to win at this rate, he definitely has a case. He has allowed Kirk to develop the mentality of just throwing 50/50 balls that are more like 70/30 balls. This offense runs through Jefferson and he is absolutely what makes this team so fun to watch.
Jefferson most likely would need to surpass 2000 yards and 10 plus touchdowns, but with the way he has been producing this year he definitely should be in the conversation for MVP if he keeps this up because we are really witnessing stuff not seen since Randy Moss lit up the field.
