Ranking the 7 Best AFC Teams in the NFL
With about over the quarter of the season behind us, I think it is the perfect time to write about how the AFC Stacks up. These rankings will also play a huge part in where I think each team ends up at the end of the year.
HM: Colts
7. Cleveland Browns: It has definitely been an up-down year for the Browns so far, but their defense has been absolutely amazing. They have been getting tons of pressure on the quarterback and have made opposing teams work through the air to try and come back in games. As long as Watson is able to stay healthy this team should make the playoffs and have a decent shot of upsetting whoever gets in.
6. Ravens: One of the biggest problems I thought Baltimore addressed in the off-season was getting wide receiver help and it is clear that it is still an issue. A lot of dropped passes last Sunday prevented the Ravens from getting the win and they now fall to 3-2. It is frustrating that with both the Steelers and Colts games they could easily be 5-0, but they shoot themselves in the foot every time.
5: Miami Dolphins: I know this seems low to some, given the Dolphins have the best record in the AFC, but I still have several questions about this team. The defense has been very below average and, despite how great the offense is, when a team like Buffalo drops 48 it is clear that they won't be able to keep up every time. Jale Ramsey returning later on in the season may help change things.
4. Steelers: My Super Bowl pick before the season is not looking good. Despite a 3-2 start to the season, this offense has been terrible. Kenny Pickett has not taken any steps in his second year and the offensive play-calling is just awful. If they want any shot, this offense needs to improve a lot to help out this stud defense.
3 Buffalo Bills: After an awful week 1 performance in which Josh Allen threw 3 interceptions, he has bounced back very nicely and turned himself into an MVP candidate. The Bills have shown to be a great offense once again and the defense is doing its thing. The only problem I see is these 1 score games. Both the Jaguars and Jets have been one score and they have lost both. If they can establish the run with James Cook a little more, I will trust the Bills in the playoffs.
2 Jacksonville Jaguars: The team that just beat the Bills in London is at my number 2 spot. The offense has definitely found its footing a little over these last two weeks and that has helped them get to their past two victories. The defense showed a lot of promise against one of the best offenses in the NFL and remains a force that needs to be taken seriously.
1 Kansas City: The Chiefs, after losing in week 1, have won every game since then. Although it has been the prettiest, they just find a way to win games and with Patrick Mahomes, I have full belief that they can go right back to the Super Bowl.
