Vikings Acquire Two New Players

The Minnesota Vikings won 13 games last year, are in win-now mode after starting the 2023 season with a surprising 0-2 start. Both games were down to one score and one of the losses was to Super Bowl favorite Philadelphia Eagles at a score of 34-28.

The Vikings signed guard Dalton Risner, who is a huge upgrade at that position compared to Ed Ingram. Risner will be there to help keep Kirk Cousins protected and in the run blocking game, as it has been ineffective through the first two weeks. The Vikings also went out and traded for Rams running back Cam Akers. Akers has shown some potential in previous seasons, with 600 yards in his rookie season and with nearly 800 yards on the ground last year  However, he was clearly frustrated with his role in Los Angeles and wanted out. His addition gives the Vikings another weapon on offense and will take the pressure off Alexander Mattison being the lead back.

The Vikings still want to be competitive and face a must-win game against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.
