Nick Chubb Suffers a Horrific Injury, Out for Remainder of the Season

On Monday night the football world all stood at attention as one of the league's premiere players suffered a catastrophic injury. Browns Running Back Nick Chubb suffered a gruesome hit to his left leg from Steelers Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. Chubb is believed to have significantly injured various ligaments, which will require surgery and keep him out for the year. Unfortunately, Chubb suffered a similar injury to the same leg in college at Georgia, making the potential road to recovery even more of an uphill battle.

Football aside, Chubb is regarded as a great person and a phenomenal teammate. Seeing a player who has given so much to the game, both on and off the field, go down with an injury like this truly shakes the league. His voice this offseason on running backs and their pay carried tremendous weight. One of Nick's major points was that a RB's production hurts them more than helps in the eyes of the executives. The more yearly volume the position sees, the more worn down the player will be the following year. The topic is still up for discussion to many, but that's for a different time.

Right now, the focus should be supporting one of the National Football League's best players towards a healthy return. Next year will be the last of his current contract with the Browns. In that final year, he is guaranteed only four million out of a potential fifteen million dollars. However things may turn out, one would hope that the Browns would fully guarantee that contract in honor of his commitment to the franchise.
