Vikings Quarterback Kirk Cousins Featured on New Netflix Show "Quarterback"
Recently Netflix came out with a new series called “Quarterback”, which features three quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes, Marcus Mariota, and Kirk Cousins. The show features a perspective on the life of a quarterback, both on and off the field. Since I am a Vikings fan it was definitely exciting to see how my favorite quarterback operates on a day-to-day basis.
Takeaway 1: Kirk is a lot tougher than I thought as a player. Throughout the series, we see just how many hits he is constantly taking during the game and how much time he has to spend during the week to get his body in at least 50 percent shape for the next game. He was constantly dealing with rib injuries throughout the season and yet was still able to gut out 8 game-winning drives, showing just how resilient he is.
Takeaway 2: Kirk is a family man who doesn't like being in the spotlight. It has been noted throughout his career that Kirk Cousins has a weird personality and isn't your typical millionaire. As portrayed throughout the film, whenever he isn't on the football field he is playing with his kids or shopping at a local Sams Club. He calls himself just an ordinary guy living a regular life outside the game of football.
Takeaway 3: Kirk needs to work on the mental part of his game. Despite only having a few solid years left, Kirk Cousins knows it is very important for his own legacy and his success with the Vikings that he works on not becoming so flustered during games. Whenever something goes wrong you can see him get frustrated and start to lose focus on the actual game itself. He will ignore his teammates and coaches. In the game of football things aren't going to be perfect, and Kirk needs to keep that in mind so he overcomes the inevitable challenges, keeps his cool, and can be counted on to lead his team to a win.
